You own several racing greyhounds yourself and want to promote greyhound racing to the ' younger generation ' to get them involved with the 'sport'.
As you may know greyhounds are sensitive, affectionate and sentient beings just like any other breed of domestic dog, similar to those many of us live with at home as part of the family. However, the racing industry treats these beautiful animals as nothing more than racing machines.
Firstly, before any dogs even reach the tracks, trainers and breeders will decide if their dogs are good enough to race. If a dog is not fast enough, or will simply not chase the mechanical hare, the dog is of no use to the breeder/trainer and will often be abandoned or killed. This is before any racing begins - when many of these dogs are still puppies. Estimates of the numbers of dogs who “disappear” in this way each year are over 10,000.
Secondly, dogs that do race at tracks are at great risk of sustaining injuries during races.
These injuries are often treatable, such as broken ankles, but trainers do not wish to part with money for treatment so dogs with non-life threatening injuries are often put to sleep.
Even without injury, most greyhounds end their racing lives at around 3 years old, when they are deemed no longer suitable for racing.
The lucky few are re-homed into loving family homes, but this only happens in the minority of cases, the majority are again killed.

Therefore I ask you why you are involved with an industry which promotes exploitation, cruelty and suffering to greyhounds and why he is happy to promote this to others.
Greyhound racing has no place in the 21st century and with other forms of animal cruelty, neglect and abandonment on the increase, surely you should be promoting animal welfare as well as promoting cruelty free forms of entertainment.
