Positive update! Send a thank you! Shoreline, sister city to Boryeong in South Korea

----------------------------------------------------------

Dear Mayor Roberts,
dear Council members:
According to the Korean Governor's Association database on sister cities, Shoreline is a sister city to Boryeong in South Korea.
I want to draw your attention to an important issue regarding this sister city.
Dog torture and dog-meat consumption is currently being practiced in that city, regardless of the fact that it is illegal under South Korean Law – but the laws are not enforced.
The dog and cat meat trades involve extremely brutal and widespread animal cruelty, and the animals suffer unimaginable pain and distress.
Just 2 links:
I believe that your city should be made aware of this issue, as you probably do not want to be associated with a city where illegal and immoral torture is being carried out on any animal, and particularly not on the ones that are loyal, trusting creatures, which look up to us humans as their guardians.
These illegal brutal trades are being allowed to continue by Korean authorities – even though there is growing opposition from pet owners across South Korea, and throughout the world.
So, I am asking you to please speak with your counterparts in Boryeong, especially Mayor Dong-Il Kim, to urge them to enforce their own laws, not ignore them, and to show compassion to their companion animals, and also respect their own citizens, by bringing these trades to an end!
You will find more information under this link:
With the Winter Olympics coming up in 2018, this is the time to make a change; this is the time to stop the illegal, inhumane and unnecessary cruelty.
I know that South Korea has many beautiful, admirable and noble practices and customs worth preserving, but this is not one of them.
Thank you for your time and understanding and please let me know what your opinion is.
Sincerely:

Dear Mayor Roberts and the City Council members:

I would like to thank you for informing us that the City of Shoreline suspended the Sister City program with Boryeong in 2012 but that you will attempt to reach out to Boryeong administration to address our concerns raised via the recent petition on Change.org about the mistreatment, torture and consumption of companion animals in Boryeong.

Both domestic and international pressure on this divisive issue is required if we are going to incite some real change in South Korea, so I kindly urge you to continue reaching out to your former Sister City until affirmative action is taken by their authorities to end the horrific and illegal practice of the dog meat trade for good.

Thank you again for your efforts here.
